ABOUT THE BUDGET
Budget Department is responsible for the development and oversight of the city's annual operating budget and the five-year Capital Investment Plan.
The budget department provides policy and management analysis, coordination of the Charlotte City Council's business agenda, and administration of the organization's performance management and strategic planning processes.
Development of the fiscal Budget included a thorough review of revenue and financial options to ensure that the use of available resources is maximized to serve the community while maintaining a good value to residents and consistency with council priorities.
The total Adopted Budget is $X.XX billion and is comprised of the annual operating budget and the Capital Investment Plan (CIP). The annual operating budget reflects day-to-day operations, while the CIP represents large capital outlays over a five-year time horizon.
Revenue and Finance
Development of the Adopted FY 2025 Budget included a review of revenue and financial approaches that maintain a good value to tax and rate payers, are consistent with Council policy, and uphold the city’s strong financial ratings.
The Adopted property tax rate XX.X1¢ per $100 of assessed valuation, a .XX¢ increase. This increase includes a X.XX cent increase in the General Fund for city operations and arts, and a X.XX cent increase in the Capital Investment Plan. The assessed value is estimated at $XX.X 3 billion, with an estimated collection rate of XX.X percent.
